Dear Fellow Sharp Dealers, Vendors and Friends,

Imagine if one day you woke up and 90% of your customers could no longer access their businesses and 100% of your employees were dispersed throughout the United States. Many employees are on the rooftops of their homes that are covered in water hoping that someone will pass by and save them. You are not sure if family members are safe, injured, stranded or even worse deceased. All communications including cell phones, e-mail and landlines have stopped or at best prove to be inadequate. Eighty percent of the homes in the city you grew up in are now under water or destroyed by wind. The water will take weeks, if not months, to be pumped out. Your building is damaged, but fixable, however you have only a few working customers. Perfectly collectible receivables become uncollectible. There is no mail. Your employees slowly gather around you. They need your help. They need their jobs. They have lost everything except for the clothes they are wearing. Thank God it was just a dream…a nightmare beyond your wildest imagination. Unfortunately for the owners and employees of Allfax Specialties, Inc. in Greater New Orleans and South Mississippi Business Machines in Coastal Mississippi on August 29, 2005 this nightmare became a reality.

The devastation is real. Our employees’ lives have been completely turned upside down. Their families are scared. They have lost everything. No house, no clothes, to some no cars, no pictures, no neighbors, no schools. Where can they look for some sense of normalcy? The last thing we want to do as business owners is to further traumatize our employees by mass layoffs, but we can only help so much. What we need is time. We need to use our diminished resources to rebuild our businesses to insure a stable long- term solution for our employees.

Many concerned dealers, vendors and friends have called asking what they can do to help. Daily we are receiving clothes and toys that are much appreciated. Some of our friends have asked about direct cash contributions. In order to make sure that all donations are accounted for and are directed to our employees that are most in need, we have set up a Private, Non-Profit Foundation.

One hundred percent of all proceeds will be dispersed directly to Sharp Dealer employees affected by Hurricane Katrina. An outside Board of Directors comprised of Sharp Dealer Principles will oversee all disbursements. If you or your employees would like to make a donation, send to:
